GOOD FOOD BRINGS JOY. VIENNA EDITION.

BASIC INFORMATIONS.

It is very simple to say this: I LOVE FOOD 🙂 Influenced by my Filipino and Austrian roots, I love to spend my day-offs with cooking, eating or just trying new restaurants. Even if the restaurant scene in Austria is still booming and you can try new hot spots nearly every week, sometimes it is just cozy and comfortable to visit a place you already know.

With this article I love to share my favorite restaurants in Vienna. Therefore, in case you are on a trip across Austria and happen to be in Vienna, here are some recommendations.

WHAT AWAITS YOU AT STRÖCK FEIERABEND?

Their restaurant concept is simple and their credo straightforward: “Enjoy the best of bread and wine with friends.” or in German “Gemeinsam mit Freunden das Beste aus Brot & Wein genießen.

The whole world inspires them, but don’t forget their roots. They believe in quality, origin, season and cultivation method. The high quality of their products always comes first.

For the team quality & taste, low ecological impact and a fair price can be reconciled. Sustainability, regionality and resource conservation are not only written on the proverbial flag, the philosophy is lived with every meal on the menu. Based on this idea, they serve a large number of Austrian and selected organic wines as well as ingredients from the region.

They want you to “feel at home” at Ströckfeierabend. Meet people you like to share with – be it a meal, a smile or just a good time together. All that combined makes the restaurant Ströckfeierabend to one of my favourite restaurants.

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS.

My fiancé and I lost count how many times we have been at Ströckfeierabend 🙂 We had dinner for two, come together with friends, celebrations like birthdays or our engagement party – it was always a pleasure. Besides the good food and the friendly team, the location is cozy and chic at the same time. That´s why it fits perfectly for different occasions.

ALSO GOOD TO KNOW.

Since the opening of the restaurant, it is fully booked most of the time. Especially, if you plan to have dinner during the week or breakfast/lunch/dinner at weekends. My advice it to make a reservation at least one week prior. You can call directly or book your table online. During summer, you can sit at the outdoor dining area on a first come first served basis.

JOY(NT) VENTURE TRAVEL TIP.

Especially as a tourist, who might want to try a restaurant besides the classic ones you read about in your tour guide, Ströckfeierabend is always a good choice.

The next subway stations is “U3 Rochusgasse”. Take the exit “Hainburgerstrasse”. On the right hand side, you can see a Greek restaurant named “IRODION”. Enter the passage on the right after the restaurant and at the end, you will see Ströckfeierabend at a corner just across the street.

Walking distance from the subway station to the restaurant is about 3-5 min.

WHAT AWAITS YOU AT GLACIS BEISL?

Glacis Beisl is nestled in the 7th District, is the perfect location for everyone who needs a little distance from the hustle and bustle of the city. A symbiosis of modernity and tradition awaits you here. The restaurant represents this philosophy with its furnishing. They integrated the tradition of a real Viennese pub into an urban setting.

This interaction is also reflected on the menu: classics from Viennese cuisine such as Wiener Schnitzel, Gulasch or Krautfleckerl can be found on the menu, but also newly interpreted dishes. The best way to find out: make a reservation, try it and enjoy your meal 🙂

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS.

My fiancé and I had many times lunch or dinner at Glacis Beisl. We love the combination of traditional Viennese/Austrian cuisine with a modern touch. The employees are always friendly and the waiting time after the order is fine.

ALSO GOOD TO KNOW.

The next subway stations is “U3 Volkstheater”. Take the exit “Ausgang Volkstheater”, and then turn left. At the next corner, turn left again into “Breite Gasse” and after about 200m you have reached your destination 🙂 Walking distance from the subway station to the restaurant is about 5-8 min. The restaurant is also perfectly located, if you are interested in museums & art or shopping.

JOY(NT) VENTURE TRAVEL TIP.

If you want to try a restaurant besides the classic ones you read in your tour guide, I highly can recommend Glacis Beisl. During summer, the outdoor dining area is open and perfect spot for a drink.

WHAT AWAITS YOU AT KLEE AM HANSELTEICH?

Klee am Hanslteich is nestled in the 17th District and it is located in the middle of nature, so you can escape everyday stress. It is also the perfect location for everyone who needs a little distance from the hustle and bustle of the city.

OVERALL IMPRESSIONS.

The concept of food are Austrian classics, such as boiled fillet and Wiener Schnitzel and as well modern, lightly prepared, Mediterranean dishes. The wooden furniture style allows you to sit outdoors in any weather from early spring until late autumn.

My fiancé and I love this place – especially in summer. We love the combination of the menu – the Viennese cuisine with a modern touch and Mediterranean dishes. The employees are always friendly and the waiting time after the order is fine. We leave the place happy every time 🙂

ALSO GOOD TO KNOW.

Very imporant: MAKE A RESERVATION, if you plan to visit this restaurant. It is always fully booked – especially in spring/summer, because this place is very popular among Viennese residents.

The best way to get to Klee am Hanslteich is by car or by taxi. Although or precisely because of the exposed location, it is worth absolutely worth a visit. This place is quite an insider tip 🙂

JOY(NT) VENTURE TRAVEL TIP.

This tip is aimed especially at those who love high heels 🙂 The restaurant Klee am Hanslteich is located in the middle of nature and guess what, high heels would not be the best choice 😉 I think, the best dress code for the restaurant would be casual chic.
