IMPRESSIONS.
Three things immediately came to my mind when I had finished watching the show.
Gospel unites all cultures. Everyone had a chance to be part of the choir – Black, White or Asian – it didn’t matter what your background was, everyone could participate. One participant in the show said: “Be part of the choir knock at your heart. Gospel music is like home.”
Music can help you with learning a language. There is a participant named Danlie Cuenca from Norfolk, Virginia. She says in an interview segment: “When I came to America, I didn’t speak English very well. So one way that helped me to learn English, was through music. Whitney was my English teacher and Mariah Carey was my vocal coach.”
The last sentence has really stuck with me. I think the idea of Whitney being my English teacher and Mariah being my singing teacher, would be pretty cool 🙂
Music connects people. The series gives you fascinating insights about gospel music. Through inspirational stories, you get to know the individuals, how music has helped them and what Gospel means for their church community.
While watching the series you get to hear a lot of soul, which always gave me goosebumps. You really can feel that everyone sings from the heart, with soul and with the whole body. Even if you listen to different music genres like Rock or Pop, you will not be bored with this Christian music. In my opinion, when people sing, it gives you always joy 🙂
